10 people injured in shooting during rooftop party in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisconsin — At least 10 people, including teenagers, were injured in an early-morning shooting at a rooftop party in Wisconsin, police said Sunday.

Nine people were injured and another was wounded by shattered glass in a shooting at a party in a high-rise apartment in downtown Madison.

All the injured have been admitted to the hospital. According to officials, the condition of none of the injured is so serious that their life is in danger. On Sunday afternoon, Madison police said that at least one victim was admitted to the hospital.

The victims were aged between 14 and 23 years.

“It's truly a miracle that no one died,” Madison Police Chief Shawn Barnes said at a news conference. “As a community, our hearts are breaking.”

Police were called to the apartment complex around 12:45 a.m.

“These students should have been on summer vacation, not receiving medical treatment,” Barnes said.

The shooting happened near the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, but university officials said there were no reports of injuries or any students involved.

No one was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting. Police did not give a reason for it.
